Books Before Bike (B3) Program

Protecting Liberia’s Young Minds from a Future Cut Short

Across Liberia, many motorbike riders are school dropouts—forced to abandon their education to support their families. Poverty pushes them toward quick income over long-term growth. WAEC and Ministry of Education data show a sharp decline in male secondary school enrollment, with more females now graduating than males—an alarming trend for Liberia’s future.

The biggest barrier is the hidden cost of education—uniforms, books, fees, and transportation—which traps these young men in a cycle where limited education means limited opportunity, and poverty persists.

Books Before Bike (B3) is our targeted solution: Keep boys in school by covering essential learning materials and hidden costs; build skills before income through vocational training before bike-riding becomes a livelihood; and inspire them to become agents of positive change.

We focus on young men aged 15–30 currently riding commercial bikes or at risk of dropping out—helping them return to education, gain skills, and achieve self-reliance.

When boys complete their education, they not only change their own lives—they strengthen Liberia. Educated young men are more employable, start businesses, create jobs, make informed civic decisions, and become role models who raise children that value learning, fostering safer and more prosperous communities.

📩 Join Us. Your sponsorship doesn’t just put books before bikes—it puts Liberia’s future before poverty. Together, we can equip these young men to ride toward a brighter tomorrow.
