On November 25, 2025, Foundation for Research, Education & Empowerment (FREE) Liberia proudly participated in the Ministry of Education’s National Dialogue on Girls’ Education, held at the Corina Hotel in Monrovia. The event brought together key national and international stakeholders, including Minister of Education Hon. Jarso M. Jallah, UNFPA, UNICEF, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection, the Ministry of Justice, LINSU, and several civil society organizations—reflecting a shared commitment to protecting and empowering Liberia’s girls.
Represented by our CEO’s Special Technical Assistant, Siemon L. Wee, FREE Liberia contributed meaningfully to the Civil Society and International Partners Working Group. We helped championed a strong policy position emphasizing that every pregnant school-going girl has the right to formal and informal education, and that zero discrimination must be enforced across all schools in Liberia. We also advanced concrete recommendations for flexible learning pathways, trained support staff, and clear referral systems that safeguard girls’ health, dignity, and educational continuity.
FREE Liberia commends the Ministry of Education, particularly the Bureau of Student Personnel Services, headed by Sona Traore Sesay for hosting this important national dialogue and appreciates the invitation to actively participate. Such collaborative platforms are vital for shaping inclusive policies that reflect evidence, compassion, and community realities.
As an organization deeply committed to educational equity and girls’ empowerment, FREE Liberia stands ready to strengthen partnerships with the MoE and other stakeholders. Together, we will continue working to ensure that no girl—pregnant or otherwise—is left behind in her pursuit of education and a brighter future.
